Helping St. Louis Seniors
Live privately and safely
Home Page

Thank you for visiting H.E.L.P.S., Helping Elderly Live Privately and Safely.  We are committed to helping you or your loved one remain as independent as possible and prevent pre-mature nursing home care or institutionalization. We believe in aging-in-place and want to support you in the goals that you desire, in a safe environment.

We want to assist you in attaining your goals by developing a personalized care plan that is based on a thorough assessment done by a Gerontologist in the comfort of your own home. We provide a safety check of your home and want to supplement what you are already doing well, so that we don’t duplicate what you or your family members may already be doing for you. We look at your situation from many disciplines and you as an individual!

Should someone need to enter a nursing home or other institution due to safety issues or due to a skilled need that is unable to be treated at home, we can also advocate for the resident.  We provide the resident and family members peace of mind.  Having someone who is experienced in the Geriatric field and familiar with the nursing home environment, we can help you understand what is appropriate or what can be expected of you and for your loved one’s care. We are bonded and insured.

The owner of H.E.L.P.S., Shirley Graham, has her Masters Degree in Gerontology; has worked for Missouri’s Health & Senior Services, conducting investigations for Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation; and Missouri’s Family Support Division, assisting families in applying for State benefits such as Medicaid, HCB and QMB, etc. She is a member of local coalitions that support the St. Louis Area’s Senior Community, and volunteers for agencies such as the Alzheimer’s Association because she supports the goals of organizations that encourage family autonomy and independence.

Shirley has had a great deal of experience in dealing with families in crisis, those who have difficulty dealing with their current situation, seniors who have no family or have family members that live out-of-town.  We serve as a liaison to those who are unable to visit their loved one frequently, providing communication updates so you feel “in the loop” and have peace of mind about the situation. Care Giving is hard if you are in or out-of-town and we want to make it less stressful for you.
